Per capita
A pattern, not a number on its own: any measure for a place divided by the population of the same place, so that large and small places can be compared. It is a ratio, so it is never summed across places. A concept that extends it names the measure, the scale and the population source and year, and states its unit as the measure's unit per the scale's number of people (USD per million people).
