Change request
A request for change: the recorded proposal to add, modify, or remove something that could affect a service, used so the risk can be judged before the change is made. The change itself is that addition, modification, or removal. This record is the proposal, not the incident it may help restore and not the problem whose cause it may remove. An emergency change is often how a service is restored; the request is still not the incident. It is not a release and not a deployment. A release is a version made available for use. A deployment puts a build into an environment, which is one way a change is carried out. A standard change may fulfill a service request. The request and the change stay different records.

Properties
What we can say about Change request
These properties describe meanings and reference targets. Storage types, required fields, and cardinality belong to the consuming data model.
| Property | Meaning | Values and units |
|---|---|---|
| Change request problem | A problem this change is intended to remove or reduce. The change request remains a proposal; accepting it is not the same as closing the problem. | Values reference Problem |
| Change request risk | The assessed chance that this change harms the service, and how bad that harm would be, used to choose how the change is approved. It is not incident severity and not bug severity. | Scalar meaning |
| Change request type | How this change is authorized. A standard change is low-risk, pre-authorized, and fully documented, so it needs no further authorization. A normal change is assessed and authorized before it goes ahead. An emergency change must be introduced as soon as possible, often to restore a service. The words belong to the practice. The type is not the risk grade and not the deployment that carries the change out. | Scalar meaning |
